As the name suggests, lush green forests cradle GIO's Camp Verdant Valley, located 190 kms from Haridwar. The life giving waters of the mystical Mandakini cut a wide swath through valley, washing over rocks and boulders on their relentless journey to meet the Alakhnanda at Rudraprayag. For the intrepid rafters and kayakers who brave her waters, the Mandakini has everything to offer from breathtaking beauty to mind blowing rapids.

The snow clad peaks of Mount Kedar are visible from the camp itself, while a short trek brings one to the bugyals (meadows) of Chopta, inviting visitors to soak in the bounty of nature. From here one can trek up to Tungnath (the highest Shiva temple in the world) or go that bit further and trek right up to Chandrashilla peak at an altitude of 4050 m. An easier, though equally beautiful trek winding through majestic rhododendron forests, leads one to an amazingly scenic high altitude lake, Deoriatal, where the whole Himalayan range including the mighty Chaukhamba peaks can be seen reflected in its clear waters.

SEASON: January-June & September-December

Accommodation: The camp provides accommodation in Large Luxury Swiss cottage tents ((12' x 12'). Each tent has two cots with comfortable bedding and quilts. The tents have attached bathrooms with running water. The toilets are dry pit with western seats and are clean and convenient.
Food: The camp has a full-fledged kitchen that provides you with hot multi-cuisine meals apart from all the cups of tea / coffee you might want.
Large areas with magnificent views for activities and relaxation.
A well laid out dining area as well as a conference/discussion area facing the River.
Specially designed Team activities/games.
Bonfire and Barbecue at night.
Electricity (through generator).

CAMP HIGHLIGHTS

Magnificent location with stunning view of the Kedar peak and other snow clad peaks of the Himalayas. numerous treks and trails including the famous Tunganath and Kedarnath trek.
Surrounded by beautiful bugyals (high altitude meadows) like Chopta which is only 40 kms from the camp.
Ancient temples and sights - The legendary Ukhimath temple is only 1 km trek/5 kms drive from the camp.
Variety of endemic and migratory birds including some rare species.

The most comfortable mode of travel to get to the camps is through a combination of train and road travel. The closest railway station to the camp is at Haridwar, that is well connected to Delhi and other parts of the country by regular trains and from here one could drive to the camp (5 - 6 hrs).
