1. What kind of equipments do you use?

A. We have NRS and Hyside Rafts. This apart we have paddles, life jackets and helmets as mandatory requirements that each person on a raft must have. Depending on the kind of trip we even have wet suits and dry tops to keep cold out.

2. How do you conduct a rafting expedition?

A. We have a group (individuals coming from different places or a group as a whole) negotiate white water over a period of days. We stop every day in the evening, pitch our tents, have food have some fun things to do and move on the next day in the morning. This kind of a trip is a self sustaining trip.

 3. What about your guides?

A.  All our guides for expeditions have been running on rivers for more than fifteen years. Our two senior most guides have more than two decades of experience behind them, with numerous expeditions with the armed forces.

4. What about safety?

A.  Safety is our priority on all trips, whether it's a regular camp based run or an expedition. In an expedition however it becomes primary because the trip itself is self sustaining. Our staff are professionals at rescue missions and graduates from NIM. We run all our trips with safety kayaks. Kayakers with us include the 2007 Indian National Kayaking Champion.

 5. What about food?

A. On a self sustaining trip you are advised to travel light. We prepare basic and nutritious food for meals. Other trips are based in our camps and you have a healthy variety to choose from.

6. What kind of experience do I need?

A.  For Camp based trips you typically don't need any experience of having rafted before. However,  on a typical rafting expedition you should have rafted at least 3-4 time before. Better even if you have rafted on a range of rivers.

7. What about clothes?

A.  On regular camp based trips non baggy comfortable wear is advised as baggy clothes tend to retain water. On expeditions you wear wet suits as your outer layer. So nothing gets wet unless you are in the water for some reason. Generally rafting keeps your body warm and you don't really wear anything too warm. The wet suit is good enough to keep you off from the winds.

8. How do you store belongings?

A. We carry dry bags with us and everybody's stuff is carried in those bags. The bags don't get wet even if they fall in water. Everything is safe. Still for Camp based trips you need to only carry your cameras / glasses or any other essentials.

9. What kind of age restrictions do you have?

A. For normal camp based rafting trips 10 years of age is a must, however for younger kids we do ensure that they get a feel of the sport through some easier float trips. On expeditions we don't take anybody under 15 yrs and even those who come need to have prior rafting experience. All individuals under the age of 18 however need to furnish parental consent.

10. How can I reserve my spot?

A. If you have already selected your trip just email at query@gio.in and mention the trip and our people will take care of everything else. However if you need help selecting the right trip, you will be helped out with the same.
