Skiing: Basic Course - Auli 7 Days


Day 1: Haridwar – Auli [Drive / 8 - 9 hrs]

You will start from Haridwar early in the morning and arrive in the lodge around early evening. This drive will take 8-9 hours. In the evening, there will be a program orientation and introduction with the team and the equipment, followed by dinner. Overnight stay in lodge.

Day 2-5: Auli – Skiing

Your typical day would start with breakfast at 8:00 am after which a short drive (15 mins) will get you to the ski chairlifts which take us to the main slope. We will start with instructions by 9:30 am. Participants will ski till around 1:30  - 2:00 pm each day after which they will return to the lodge. Rest of the day will be at leisure. You can spend time with the instructors and discuss/practice techniques. Also there are number of hikes/walks around the lodge with excellent bird watching opportunities. In the evenings there will be video sessions on skiing techniques. Also sitting around the fire and creating music in the evening or listening to it would be the order of the day. There are various indoor games for you to enjoy. Hot tea/coffee/soups along with variety of eating options will keep your taste buds satiated. One can also go down to the Joshimath town and roam around the local markets and visit some ancient temples. Overnight stay in lodge. 

Day 6: Auli – Jayalgarh [Drive / 4.5 hrs]

Post breakfast you will have your last skiing session. After lunch, drive down to our riverside deluxe camp at Jayalgarh (near Srinagar, Garhwal). You will really enjoy staying next to the river and your drive back from Auli is broken into 2 easy instalments. Overnight stay in camp.  

Day 7: Jayalgarh – Haridwar [Drive / 3.5 hrs]

Today there is an option of indulging in another activity, white water rafting on the river Alaknanda. You have the opportunity to raft for about 25 km from the camp till Devprayag. The stretch will have rapids of class II – III. Another interesting aspect of this option is that you raft through the confluence of Bhagirathi & Alaknanda which meet to form the Ganga at Devprayag. Guests will be dropped to Haridwar from where they can proceed with their onwards journey. Trip ends here.

  • If in case, we receive any forecast that Auli will not get ample of snow which is required for skiing we will inform you about 2-3 weeks before the start of the trip.
  • If there is less snowfall in Auli and good amount of snowfall in upper reaches of Auli ( Gurson slopes), then we need to trek to these reaches to continue with skiing course. For this we can also take support of mules as far as possible, to save our time and energy. This depends on the condition of snow on the trail, whether it is feasible for mules to walk on it.
  • The hiring charges for mules/ horses can be paid directly on the spot as per actuals.


  • All payments for the trips, transfers, gears, porterage, etc. should be made in full before the trip starts.
  • Cancellation Policy
  • In the event that you need to cancel your booking due to any avoidable or unavoidable circumstances:
    • We must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive the request in writing.
    • Payment for this trip will not be adjusted towards any future trip(s)
  • Cancellation charges will be as follows
    • >45 Days: Full refund (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.)
    • 30-45 Days: 75% of trip cost will be refunded (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.)
    • 15-30 Days: 50% of trip cost will be refunded (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.)
    • <15 Days: No refund
  • Please Note
    • Written cancellation will be accepted on working days (only). Any cancellation sent on a Sunday or any National Holiday(s), will be considered on the next official working day.
    • In the event of any cancellation(s) after trip commencement, there will be no refunds and any costs incurred due to this cancellation will be borne by you.

Weather Report

Skiing season in Auli starts from end of December/early January and it stays till March. Though snowfall like other weather phenomenon’s has become quite unpredictable but generally mid Jan to mid march is a safe time to plan skiing in Auli
Auli gets quite cold during winter with heavy snow falls. The maximum temperature during the day time ranges from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius in peak winters. Day time is generally very enjoyable with the sun shining and perfect for skiing. If it gets cloudy orwindy then temperature can shoot down drastically. Evenings are cold but with warm clothes on it is quite comfortable to be in the out also. Night is when it gets quite cold with minimum temperature that goes beyond sub-zero levels( -2 to -10 degree Celsius ). Inside the room with good quality bedding & heaters on it is quite ok. Good quality warm apparels are a must while visiting Auli during winters

All disputes rising due to the above are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in New Delhi/Delhi only. All participants would be required to sign an Indemnity Form before the start of the program, without which they would not be allowed to take part in the trip/program/activities.

This course is designed for people who want to learn the basics of skiing under expert instructors in a small group. Due to the excellent 1:6 instructor-student ratio a lot of personal attention is given by the instructors which is the most important aspect when it comes to learning the basics of any sport. This excellent course instruction coupled with a comfortable stay in our mountain lodge in Auli makes this a not-to-miss opportunity to learn this exciting sport.
