The lake is covered with snow almost round the year. The Skeletal Lake and Mystery Lake tags have been conferred due to presence of skeletons in the waters. It is believed that group of pilgrims in 850 AD faced an unusual hailstorm and died at that place itself. The skeletons were found in 1942 by a Forest officer.
